MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Annual ‘Friends of the Library’ Spring Book Sale is happening this weekend at Carolyn Crayton Park in Macon and they are currently in the middle of setting up the venue. All proceeds made from book sales will go toward Middle Georgia Regional Library who will distribute the funds to other libraries in the community.

Mary McDonell, Book Sale Chair of Friends of the Library says it’s great for Librarians because they can get stuff that they may have not had the funding to originally get.

“There’s a particular thing they maybe want to get, more audiobooks or maybe they want to get specials kinds of books, or what have you, this giving them the opportunity to do that” McDonell said.

This is her third year running the book sale and says that it’s been a great honor.

“Everybody has there own job, everyone knows exactly want they want or need to do, it runs like a well oiled machine and that what makes it wonderful” McDonell said.

McDonell also says she hopes they sell every single book and hopes they keep the book sale going for many more years to come.

Prices are $1 for paperbacks, $2 for hardcovers, $1 for children and teens books, and $2 for DVDs and audiobooks.

The book sale will begin with a Member Preview Sale on April 4th, if you are not a member you can sign up at the door for $25 or $10 for students. On April 5th the doors are open to everyone and the sale will continue through April 7th with everything being half off on Sunday.
