Animals up for adoption following quarantine lift at Macon-Bibb animal shelter
Libby Walthall and Cherie Bland covered the adoption and license fee for 34 dogs and eight cats, according to Steve Layson, Macon-Bibb County Assistant County Manager.
The quarantine at Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare shelter began Oct. 7. It will be lifted Thursday. Because, all of the animals have been cleared as healthy and will be up for adoption Thursday from 8 a.m., until 12 p.m.
“Two ladies, that ah, really got their heart in trying to help the animals and they’re genuinely concerned, and ah, it was kind of a surprise but a welcome surprise and we appreciate their help.” says Layson.
There is a refundable $50 spay or neuter fee for the adopted animals.
All of the remaining animals will be taken to Fort Valley State University, Thursday to allow the county’s animal shelter to be thoroughly cleaned over the weekend.
Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare will resume normal operation on Monday, according to Layson.
