Amstar 16 Opens IMAX In Macon

Middle Georgians celebrated the grand opening of the Amstar 16’s IMAX theater Wednesday. State officials and theater owners say the new theater is sure to draw a crowd from all over Middle Georgia. State Rep. Allen Peake says he hopes this will help stimulate the state’s economy.

“During these tough economic times we’re looking for any good economic news and so, when a business expands or adds a new addition that’s a good thing,” Peake said.

Theater Manager Wesley Clark has worked very hard to get this IMAX theater installed in the Amstar 16, and Wednesday, all that hard work paid off.

“It’s very exciting to bring something that generates a lot of positive buzz and the fact is–it’s a tremendous experience,” Clark said.

The IMAX screen will feature both 3D and 2D films. It opens just in time for this summer’s most anticipated blockbusters, like Harry Potter and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
