Amerson River Park reopens to the public
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A recreational park reopened Saturday after being closed for a year.
The improved Amerson River Park, located on Riverbend Road, was built with more than $5 million in federal funding. It features a playground, along with three and a half miles of paved walking trails. The trails include scenic views of the Ocmulgee River.
“You’ve got about approximately a $6 million park here on 166 acres that will serve as a regional attraction for recreation and quality of life,” says Macon-Bibb County Mayor Robert Reichert.
The park sits on the former site of the city’s water treatment plant.
