Alleged Police Brutality in Warner Robins

A group of friends in Warner Robins say police officers used excessive force to push them onto the ground before arresting them, for reasons they haven’t figured out.

“The police came up, they started cursing me out telling me to leave, they started cursing everyone out telling us to go, telling us to leave, and I was telling them I was waiting on my ride.”

Antwon Cumby was waiting outside of Club Cadillac with his sister Latrice and friend, John Chiem when they say officers yelled at them to leave. After trying to explain they were waiting on a friend who was still inside with the car keys, they say police used profanity, pushed them to the ground and arrested them for no reason.

“They had thrown Latrice on the ground, I was yelling ‘Stop, you can’t do that to a woman first of all because you are two men and she has seizures,” said John Chiem.

Latrice Cumby has suffered from seizures since age 7. Her mother Jacqueline only allows her to go out with her brother Antwon.

“I’m a single parent and I take care of 4 kids all on my own and teach them to respect authority and for what the police did to my kids, it’s uncalled for.”

The group says officers cursed at them and threw them to the ground, just for trying to explain what they were doing.

“The first officer slammed Latrice, put her in a chokehold and slammed her like she was football player,” said Antwon.

Antwon and John both attend college during the day and work at night. Latrice has to take online classes because of her condition. Jaqueline says her kids have never given her any problems.

“I tell them trouble is easy to get into, but hard to get out of. And they understand that, so I don’t have to worry about them getting into any trouble.”

The Warner Robins Police Department declined our request for an interview. However, spokesperson Tabitha Pugh says the case is under administrative review.
