Pink poodle ‘Cherry’ visits Alice’s Place for National Dog Day

Cherry, known for her Cherry Blossom Festival appearances, visited residents at the Macon adult day care facility.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Alice’s Place, an adult day care facility in Macon, marked National Dog Day Tuesday by bringing in a special guest, a pink poodle named Cherry, to delight its residents.

Known for her Cherry Blossom Festival appearances, Cherry roamed the facility showing off her pink coat while volunteers worked to keep attendees comfortable and entertained. The facility also provided hot dogs and snacks for the occasion.

Owner Patricia Duncan said the event reflects the spirit she has always tried to bring to Alice’s Place. She credited the community and volunteers who make it possible.

“I want to step out on faith and do something for me and do something for the community the way I want to do it,” she said. “So certainly we’re having a lot of fun. It’s really been good to us. And not just the community, but we have a lot of volunteers. And our volunteers are the ones that make us the best in Georgia.”

Alice’s Place, located on Napier Avenue, is currently working on expanding its facilities to accommodate more residents in the program.
