Alcohol service in Baldwin County moves to 11 a.m. Sundays
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Baldwin County residents can start their “Sunday Fundays” a little sooner.
Currently, there’s no restaurants in Milledgeville-Baldwin County where you can eat breakfast and enjoy a mimosa. The county is changing that.
“We’re in Georgia still, so it’s the bible belt and Milledgeville is stuck in their ways so we’re just trying to get caught up on the times,” Amelia West who’s a bartender at Buffington’s said.
Milledgeville -Baldwin County held a special election to roll back its times for Sunday alcohol service from 12:30 p.m. to 11 a.m. Councilman Walter Reynolds says there’s an overwhelming amount of people in favor for the brunch bill.
He says serving alcohol earlier will allow restaurants to extend their menus to have a brunch section.
“I think we’ll see a lot more people interested in Sunday brunch now that they can have their mimosa and cocktails first thing in the morning,” Reynolds said.
Which in turn will be great for the community.
“Visitors can come and spend their weekends here. Maybe spend the night in our hotels. Wake up Sunday and be in no rush because they can stay around here and enjoy brunch and if they enjoy brunch, maybe they’ll stay and do a little shopping,” he said.
