WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – New townhomes along Airman Boulevard are expanding affordable home ownership opportunities in Warner Robins, aimed at helping low- to middle-income residents move from renting to owning.

The city celebrated the completion of the Airman Boulevard Townhomes on Wednesday. It’s a project designed to support working families and individuals seeking stable, affordable housing.

Warner Robins Mayor Larhonda Patrick says the townhomes were built with teachers, police officers, hospital staff and city employees in mind, helping strengthen both households and the broader community.

The Airman Boulevard townhomes are part of the city’s ongoing commitment to expanding quality, affordable homeownership options for residents.

“It really does show the city has a priority for home ownership and not just building the apartments that are for rent,” Patrick said. “People have different budgets, different wants and needs. So, being able to show that this project that came out of a CHIP grant, is to invite eight new homeowners into our community…is a great story.”

With rent prices continuing to rise, Patrick says the city has heard from residents struggling to find stable housing.

“We are hearing the stories of people being evicted, and some people living in their cars, even with small children,” she said. “Or having to go to another home, that may have too many people living in it, just to make ends meet. This hopefully gives a symbol of hope to individuals in those situations.”

Michael Ware, owner of Deep South Construction Services, says the project was made possible through a $1.5 million Community Home Investment Program grant awarded in 2024 by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

“We’re really proud of this project,” he said. “Home ownership should be affordable to everyone, and this is a path to home ownership. And the grants are going to help offset some of the cost and allow them to afford this project. And for us, we don’t get the chance to do this type of work every day, so it’s a blessing.”

Ware says the project was originally expected to take 120 days to complete but was finished in just 90 days with the city’s support, allowing families to move in sooner.

“We enjoy working with the city of Warner Robins,” he said. “I know it’s hard to say this but, not a lot of cities have the strength of Warner Robins. We love their staff; we love everybody we were able to work with through the project. The collaboration between builder and owner sometimes is very difficult, and with this city it was very pleasant.”
