Aggravated assault and theft incident in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an aggravated assault and theft incident that happened around 8:40 a.m. on the 6000 block of Thomaston Road.

According to a news release, 26 year old James Browne of Macon stole a bicycle from the 300 block of Foxtail Drive in Lake Wildwood. The victim, 35 year old Ashley Dorough, saw Browne riding her bicycle Monday morning as she was leaving her home. She called her husband, 41 year old Bryan Dorough and told him what had happened.

Mr. Dorough got in his vehicle and saw Browne riding the bicycle on Thomaston Road.

According to witnesses, Dorough hit the bicycle with his car and caused Browne to hit the ground. He then got out of the car and began hitting Browne with his hands.

Browne had minor injuries but refused treatment.

Both males were arrested. James Browne is charged with theft by taking and Bryan Dorough is charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.
