Admiral Michael G. Mullen visits GMC’s NewDay USA Center of Leadership
"We need courageous, determined, accountable, ethical leaders," Admiral Michael G. Mullen said Thursday.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia Military College celebrated the opening of the NewDay USA Center of Leadership on Thursday with a visit from Admiral Micahel G. Mullen, the former Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff.
Mullen delivered the keynote address, along with Rob Posner CEO of NewDay USA, Tom Lynch and Lionel Marshall, also from NewDay.
“What I really want you to be when you grow up and that is a leader,” Mullen said. “We’re living in a world right now and a country right now that’s hugely challenged and we need courageous, determined, accountable, ethical leaders.”
“I don’t know what the future holds. It’s a pretty confusing time,” Mullen continued. “It’s a very, very tumultuous time around the world and even here in our own country, so for you to be in a position down the road, to be able to lead people, and lead us through this and out of this to a better place, you need to take tough jobs, because you will learn skills in those difficult jobs that will impact you for the rest of your life.”
Rob Posner, the CEO of NewDay USA, mentioned how impressed he was by GMC’s staff and students.
“And what’s amazing is that you see young people that are being challenged,” he said. “You see young people that are patriotic. You see young people that say the Pledge of Allegiance. You see young people that are proud at the end of day of their teachers, proud of the school that they go into.”
According to a news release, the new center features a 753-seat theatre complete with a a Broadway-capable fly system, full orchestra pit with live feeds, costume shop and multiple dressing rooms and classrooms for Georgia Military College and Preparatory school students.
A grand opening is set for September 12.
