Ada J. Lee Talks About Her Role in Civil Rights Movement in Houston County

Toady marks the beginning of Black History Month. One middle Georgia woman, Ada J. Lee, gave 41 NBC a first hand look at life in Houston County during the peak of the civil rights movement.

There’s a lot of memories in Ada Lee’s book of life, but one stands out vividly.

“She said I went into that bathroom and that man came to me and he said you get outta here you a black…” The word that followed was so horrifying, Mrs. Lee, couldn’t bear to explain what it meant when her daughter asked, “It would have hurt me so bad.”
