ACE campus police investigate social media threat, school to remain open

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Academy for Classical Education (ACE) Campus Police Department confirmed it was made aware of an anonymous threat through a social media post on Tuesday, according to Chief of Campus Police Will Ferrel.

41NBC reached out to the Academy for Classical Education after obtaining emails sent to families about a threat made by a student on social media.

Chief Ferrel says the ACE Police Department has worked with federal law enforcement throughout the day to gather information and track the source of the threat.

“Currently our focus is on the investigation of the facts in this case,” Chief Ferrel wrote in response to our inquiry. “When we have definitive information to share, we will issue an update.”

Ferrel added that ACE has a “robust security protocol which includes prevention and escalation of measures when deemed necessary.”

Principal Lara Relyea wrote in an email sent to families that school will be open on Thursday.

“ACE is a safe campus, and we are committed to ensuring the safety of all students, faculty, staff, and the entire ACE community,” Relyea wrote.
