ACE Advances to the Final Four…Again
The 18-3 ACE Lady Gryphons defeated East Laurens in the Quarterfinal round of the GHSA Girls Soccer Class A D-1 State Championships

MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – On Monday at Perkins Field, the Academy of Classical Education Lady Gryphons defeated region opponent, the East Laurens Lady Falcons, 4-0 in the GHSA Quarterfinals.
Improving to 18-3 overall on the season, the Lady Gryphons have punched their ticket to the Final Four for consecutive seasons to host a GHSA Semifinal matchup for the first time on Thursday. ACE will look for their chance to make the GHSA Class A D-1 State Championship game.
After the game, ACE Head Coach Robby Jones spoke about the win over their region opponent.
““Yes, we knew that East Laurens was fast and physical, so we had to make up for that with skill, and teamwork, and tactics” said Jones. “So, they just gelled as a group, and kept fighting, and just played really gritty, and were able to find the net more in the second half.”
Coach Jones went onto talk about how proud he is of this ACE program. “The girls have never posted a Final Four match” Jones said. “We’ve been to the Final Four. We’ve never hosted it. So, we’re super excited. We want to get everybody out to join the Green and Blue Army in the stands, to lead on the girls.”
Jones finished by giving his initial reaction of the team the Lady Gryphons face in the Final Four, Model. “They have a lot of speed and they have a lot of skill” said Jones. “So taking East Laurens, adding even more talent at every level, back line in the front, and that’s what you can expect in them. So, we kind of look at it like we’re the underdog in that match and so we’ll rise up to that challenge, and give our best effort against them.“
ACE will host Model Thursday at Perkins Field in the GHSA Class A D-1 Semifinals, for a chance to go to the State Championship.
