Abundant sunshine and cool weather today, temps warm throughout the week

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Enjoying the cooler weather? It’ll stick around for a couple more days. The sun will continue to shine with minimal cloud cover through Tuesday, so expect the pollen to remain high for most of the week.

Although March has been extremely warm and spring started yesterday, temperatures have cooled significantly since spring started. High today will be around 62, with an overnight low of 34. Tomorrow, sunny, high of 69, with an overnight low of 38 into Wednesday.

Temperatures moderate and rise to the 70s by Wednesday with overnight lows in the 40s and 50s. However, two cold fronts are expected during the 7-Day. The first arrives Thursday night into Friday. The second arrives Saturday night into Sunday. Both fronts will bring rain to the area.

So far, I have the first round of rain arriving Thursday night into Friday morning. If that holds, it’s perfect timing since it won’t affect afternoon or evening plans.

The second round of rain is a bit more difficult as models diverge. The GFS model brings rain into our area Saturday afternoon and lasts through Sunday morning. The Euro model, which I normally trust more for long-range forecasts, has the rain arriving late night Saturday. Still, it’s too early to determine beyond a doubt the time frame, so for right now, I’m siding with the Euro and putting our chance of rain for Saturday night.

Stayed up-to-date with us as we continue to track that weekend rain and change our forecast.
