A cold rain in store for Middle Georgia

MACON, GA (41NBC/WMGT)- The forecast for today and tomorrow is a wet and dreary set of days. Our east-to-west flow is being replaced by a southwest flow. A trough has tapped into moisture from the Gulf and is bringing in additional moisture from the southeast.
This moisture is overrunning another surface front and is being lifted, bringing copious amounts of clouds and showers to North and Middle Georgia. Compounding this is an easterly flow into the area that’s causing cooler, moisture-driven air into misty, soupy, foggy conditions in some areas.
Temperatures are equally dreary, with temperatures only in the upper 40s and 50s in Middle Georgia.
For Thursday, a larger wave begins to kick out bringing yet another round of precipitation into the area. The wedge will stay in place being reinforced by both the surface high over the northeast and active precipitation falling throughout the day. This will cause a sharp temperature range with Northern Georgia in the 40s and 50s and Middle Georgia potentially rising into the 60s and 70s.
