A chilly weekend follows a brief warm-up Thursday and Friday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – This morning is just as cold as yesterday, but temperatures jump significantly this afternoon. As a comparison, yesterday’s high was 44, but today I’m putting the high at around 59, a 15 degree jump. Still cool, of course, but it’ll be very pleasant, doubly so once you incorporate the sunshine today.

Temperatures bump up to the mid-60s tomorrow afternoon despite the increased cloud cover. After that, a cold air mass moves south, and our temperatures this weekend will reflect that. The high on Saturday will be around 50, then around 48 on Valentine’s Day (but that one may lower).

On Monday, a wave of moisture arrives in our area, with several models showing between 0.5″ and 1″ of rain through Tuesday morning. So with these chilly temperatures, will we see any snow?

I wish I could give better news: models the past few days have warmed up and shown just rain in Middle Georgia. Perhaps if models start to converge on the precipitation being wintry with cooler temperatures, I can see the forecast changing, but as of now, the only moisture will be in the form of rain.

Expect the weather to clear out by Wednesday.
