Tech Report: Microsoft says AI will drive growth
Although the bulk of Microsoft’s sales still comes from software and cloud computing services to customers, the company is now pushing AI. Microsoft’s partnership with ChatGPT creator, OpenAI and sprucing up the Bing search engine with artificial intelligence technology have grabbed headlines. The company expects AI to be a big driver of growth in the years ahead.
As the economy slows down, Google is all about cost control. Despite efforts to budget, the company’s total advertising revenue was still flat year over year. Like Microsoft, Google is also working to boost its artificial intelligence capabilities.
Meanwhile, a Stanford and MIT study finds that AI can boost worker productivity by 14 percent. It found that AI support can be especially helpful to entry-level or early-career workers. The researcher also found that companies not incorporating AI will be replaced by those who do.
AST SpaceMobile announced on Tuesday that it made the first-ever space-based voice call to a standard smartphone. The first call was made from Midland, Texas to Japan over AT&T Spectrum using a Samsung Galaxy S22 smartphone. The technology could connect people who otherwise don’t have access to a cell network.
