Meta a new AI model called SAM that can identify items within photos. When using SAM, you can select individual objects by clicking on them or by writing text prompts. In one demonstration, writing the word “cat” prompted the tool to draw boxes around each of several cats in a photo. Meta already uses the technology for tasks such as tagging photos and moderating content.
Meanwhile, AI related jobs exploded in 2022, even through waves of tech industry layoffs. Data collected by Stanford University found that, last year, there were nearly 800 thousand AI related job openings across the United States. California was the top state for AI related jobs. There were over 142 thousand positions open in the state alone.
Tinder is reportedly working on a high end dating app. The new app is still in its early days, but will cater to “high intent members” looking for quality matches and better experiences. However, the app will only be open to those willing to shell out a small fortune. Membership will cost 500 dollars per month.
New data reveals that nearly 40 percent of 8th graders do not understand basic math concepts. This is the worst performance on record since testing began in 1969. The world’s leading learning platform, Brainly, is using AI to bridge the gaps in education. The company is rolling out its new AI helper, which pulls from a library of over 250 million homework answers. They addressed claims that AI will harm education, saying its not true.
