Tech Report: Cybersecurity jobs remain safe amid tech industry layoffs
While many tech firms are firing, the cybersecurity segment is hiring. Over the past two years, technology firms have shed more than 300,000 jobs with more layoffs on the horizon. The cybersecurity market has 3 point 5 million job openings globally, according to analysis.
Roku is restructuring its business and cutting about 200 employees in the process. That’s 6% of its workforce. Some of the unused office space will be vacated or sublet. Roku is making these changes in an effort to “prioritize projects the company believes will have a higher return on investment.”
Fewer people are working from home, according to a survey from the Pew Research Center. Only about a third of workers with jobs that can do done remotely are still working from home all the time. This is down from 43% in January 2022 and 55% in October 2020, but up from only 7% before the pandemic.
A report says streaming movies feature more diversity than cinematic releases. Despite their importance to keeping cinema alive through the early pandemic, Latinos remain underrepresented in most Hollywood jobs. This is according to UCLA’s Hollywood Diversity Report.
