Restaurant Report Card: Mama’s Que, Stew & Country Cafe

GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A food truck in Gray might just have the best country cooking in Middle Georgia. MaMa’s Que, Stew & Country Cafe is open Tuesday througt Thursday for lunch and it has a perfect health inspection score.

You can find it sitting in the parking lot of the Ace Hardware Store in Gray.

“I’ve been working either full time or part time in a restaurant for over 20 something years,” Julie Weprek, the restaurant’s owner said. “The country cooking, a lot of the recipes came from my mom, I’ve tweaked some things but the mac and cheese it’s made from scratch.”

Weprek advertises some of the best mac and cheese in town.

“I kinda started out with ‘Sweetie Pies’ off the T.V. with her recipe and then tweaked it to my own but its made from scratch its nothing out of a box on that,” Wepreks said.

There’s plenty to choose from to take with you for lunch at MaMa’s Que, Stew & Country Cafe. Weprek mixes up her menu often. She also goes to competitive competitions in her free time.

“We share recipes, just sit down and have a good time, cook some food, have some drinks and kick back,” Weprek said.

And most importantly, her food truck has a perfect health inspection score.

“One thing is I don’t try and cut corners, I don’t try to fool anybody, I don’t try to fool the health inspector,” Weprek said. “We wash and clean and wear gloves and keep our temperatures where they should be…you just have to stay on top of it.”
