Homeowner shot in the legs during robbery attempt

Tennille, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man and the suspect authorities say tried to steal his car are expected to be okay following a shootout in Washington County.

Tennille Police says the confrontation started after Kenneth Carter heard someone trying to break into his car Thursday night.

Moments later, deputies say Carter and the suspect, Thomas Canty, Jr., fired shots.

Deputies say Carter was shot in both legs.

The Washington County Sheriff’s office is working with the Tennille Police Department on this investigation.
