Mega Millions has some new changes to the game

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- You will now have to pay $2 to compete in the Mega Millions.

According to the Mega Million’s website, increasing the cost to play will allow players to have bigger starting jackpots.

Wayne Foster said he plays Mega Millions at least once a week.

“It don’t bother me at all, you know, because if I do one dollar or if I did two dollars imma still gonna win, you know, and I just have confidence in what imma win,” Foster said.

The starting jackpot will increase from $15,000,000 to $40,000,000.

According to the Mega Millions, people will now also have a higher chance of winning a million dollars due to the price change.

The company said prize payouts for the third tier will increase and the number of Mega Balls chosen will go up from 15 to 25 balls.

Foster believes the price change will give him better chances.

“By putting more money in, you win more, so that’s the way I look at it,” he said.

According to the website, the Gaming Commission General Counsel Edmund Burns made a comment about the rule changes.

“Without these rules changes, the Division of Lottery would need to remove the Mega Millions game from its portfolio of offerings and aid to education would be affected negatively,” Burns said.

The rules changes will go into effect Saturday.

Foster said some people may be upset with the new changes, but there’s a solution he said they can consider.

“They just need to stop playing, that’s the way I feel,” he said.

Foster believes that if you’re destined to win, the price change won’t affect anything.

So get ready for the new version of this lottery game.
