Professional golfer Russell Henley honored by former school
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A professional golfer returned to his hometown and former school in Macon Wednesday morning. Three time PGA tour winner, Russell Henley was inducted into Stratford Academy’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
Henley was recognized by former teachers and coaches. His former UGA coach was among speakers. He says this was one of his favorite moments in his career.
“All the other things I’ve done have been good for me in terms of making strides and getting better on the PGA tour,” said Henley. “Those are all great, but being here and being inducted to a tradition like this is really cool.”
Henley just finished his fifth full season on the PGA tour and finished third in the FedEx Cup this past Sunday.
Stratford also honored a former basketball coach with a John Paul Gaddy Gymnasium Dedication. Gaddy coached the boys and girls basketball teams at the school.
