Moon Pies over Macon eclipse celebration at Coliseum Medical Centers

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – All eyes were on the sky Monday afternoon at Coliseum Medical Centers in Macon.

The local hospitals provided a viewing location for the solar eclipse. The “Moon Pies Over Macon” eclipse celebration started at 2 p.m. Hospitals gave out free glasses to the first 75 people. Many viewed the solar eclipse and snacked on moon pies while relaxing in their lawn chairs and blankets.

Coliseum Medical Centers provide services 24 hours a day to the public. Staff members say events like this is what keeps the community connected.

“We are a community hospital. I think we prior ourselves on a community hospital and we want to share stuff like this with the community,” Chief Nursing & Operating Officer Pat Derrico explains.

Dozens of people say they enjoyed the view.
