Class of 1966 Reunites

MACON, Georgia(41NBC/WMGT)- Laughs and reminiscence filled the Ballard Hudson Middle School library this morning.

Members of the Ballard-Hudson Senior High School class of 1966 kicked off their 50th class reunion by returning to their old stomping grounds. The high school they once roamed around, has gone through many changes. It is now a middle school.

In honor of their 50th class reunion, alumni decided to dedicate a bench to the middle school. Their school sits on the same site the high school used to be.

Curley Hall Lightfoot helped plan the reunion and dedication for about a year.

“We wanted to give back to the students and back to the community so that they’ll know we passed this way,” Lightfoot said.

More than a hundred classmates returned for the reunion and unveiling of the bench.

Milton Howard traveled from Texas City, Texas to join his graduating class.

“It’s our 50 year reunion and it’s an opportunity to come home,” Howard said. “I never see this group and this group was a group that helped me become me”

There was a lot of excitement about leaving a little piece of of their legacy behind, but they were just as excited to see each other again.
“We’re so glad to see each other! Some of us we haven’t seen since 1966,” Lightfoot said. “So it’s just a wonderful experience to that we’re still able to be here and to come back.”

The bench will be sitting outside of the entrance for anyone to come visit.
