Milledgeville under boil water notice

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC-WMGT) – The city of Milledgeville is under a boil water notice following a water main break that caused dangerously low water levels.

In a news release from the city’s water department, Barry Jarrett, the city manager, says all water should be boiled before drinking, cooking or preparing food. This is especially emphasized for residents on the west side of Milledgeville, who are experiencing water outages or low water pressure.

Jarrett says potential health hazards may exist in areas with low water pressure.

The news release says water should be boiled one minute after it reaches a rolling boil. Continue to boil water until the City of Milledgeville Water Department determines the water system is fully operational and quality of water is safe for human consumption.
