Man arrested after standoff with Warner Robins SWAT team

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins Police officers arrested a man they claim was drunk and pointed a gun at paramedics.

Robert Pope, 41, is charged with aggravated assault.

Around 6 p.m. Saturday, paramedics went to home on Jana Court after receiving a call about an intoxicated person.

When they arrived, Pope pointed a gun at the paramedics, according to a news release from the department.

The paramedics called the Warner Robins Police Department.

Officers heard a gunshot from the house when they arrived.

They tried multiple times to make contact with Pope, but were unsuccessful.

The SWAT team was called out and sent a robot into the home to see if Pope was okay.

The robot found Pope safe inside the home.

No one else was inside and no one was injured.
