East Macon shooting injures two
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two men were sent to the hospital after a shooting on Melton Avenue Sunday morning.
It happened just before 4:45 a.m.
Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Jeffersonville and Millerfield Roads after receiving a call about gunshots being heard in the area. Deputies then went to a home on Melton Avenue after receiving a call about a person being shot. Tavares Williams, 26, was hit in the right leg, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Deputies then learned of another person who was at the Medical Center, Navicent Health with a gunshot wound to the back. Deputies believe the victim, 18-year-old Walter Archer, was also at the Melton Avenue home when he was shot.
Bibb investigators said before the shooting, a large group of people were at the Melton Avenue home. An argument started and then people heard gunshots. The people involved in the fight haven’t been identified.
Williams and Archer were taken to the hospital. Williams is stable. Archer is in serious condition.
