Gunshots fired inside Crawford County business; woman arrested
ROBERTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation along with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting at a chemical business.
According to a news release, the sheriff’s office received a call about an active shooter at Olin Corporation on 125 GNS Court on Wednesday afternoon at about 1:45 p.m.
Deputies and a Roberta Police Officer found a woman coming out of the Olin Corporation building armed with a handgun. She was quickly arrested.
There were shots fired inside the building, but no one was injured.
“We are cooperating fully with the Roberta Police and Crawford County Sheriff’s departments regarding the incident involving an armed individual at our Roberta epoxy facility. The armed individual was not an Olin or on-site contractor employee. We successfully deployed our emergency procedures when the incident occurred, and no one was injured,” Carol Clark, a senior vice president at Olin Corporation, said.
The woman was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. At this time, the name of the woman is being withheld because of the matter of the investigation.
