Navicent PD radio system improves communication with county emergency departments

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Medical Center, Navicent Health Police Department can now communicate with county emergency management departments with the touch of a button.

New radio technology will give Navicent officers direct access to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the Macon-Bibb Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services.

“We ask another agency to assist us usually if it’s pretty huge. We usually handle all of the police incidents or security incidents on our property. Anytime we have to have any follow up investigations. We don’t have investigators so we rely on the sheriff’s department to provide investigations,” said Navicent Police Chief Quentin Jude.

Jude explained the department had a drill in August and realized the radios would help improve communication between the county departments.

The radio system cost about $180,000, according to Jude.
