Restaurant Report Card: Velvet Elvis

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  “Especially when you walk through the door you automatically feel welcome, we’re all so friendly everyone who works here upstairs and downstairs,” said Tiffany Champagne, who works at Velvet Elvis in downtown Milledgeville.

But when you go on in, you may think Velvet Elvis is just for college folks.

“It’s from all ages come in here, and we have so many regulars that come in here almost everyday,” said Champagne.

But it’s got great food for everyone–the food and the drinks bring in the crowds at the Velvet Elvis on Friday nights.

“Just all your friends come in here it’s like a really good atmosphere and you know all your friends come in so it’s like hanging out it’s not even like working but it gets pretty crazy–pretty busy in here,” said Champagne.

The lunch and dinner crowd know what’s up too–the food is good.

“Our Buffalo Bird is probably our big sandwich,” said Champagne. “We even have Wednesday nights where it’s just Buffalo Bird Night. All of the college guys love the Buffalo Bird Sandwich.”

The perfect health inspection on the wall is velvety smooth.

“We want everyone to feel safe when they come in here and they’re going to get the absolute best service that they’re going to get downtown,” said Champagne. “So we go the extra mile to make sure that everything’s where it’s supposed to be and clean.”

The Velvet Elvis is making the grade this week.

Here’s a restaurant that needs to step it up.

Pho Saigon on Riverside Drive scored a 64.

The hand sink was blocked so you couldn’t use it, they had raw beef stored over vegetables, and the utensils weren’t being washed in the right kind of sink.
