Former Bibb County School Board member dies

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Former Bibb County School District board member Betty Phillips has died.

Phillips died at the Macon Northside emergency room at 3:48 a.m. Friday morning after battling lung cancer, according to Coroner Leon Jones.

Coroner Ronnie Miley says he was proud to serve with her while she was on the school board.

Harts Mortuary will be handling her funeral arrangements.

Phillips was 88 years old.
