High pressure keeps us just about cloud-free today, will be much warmer this weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – With high pressure in place, there’s no concern about rain until next week. Temperatures remain seasonable at around 62 for a high today and Friday. Overnight lows return to the low to mid 30s tomorrow morning.

However, as high pressure shifts to the east, so will the winds. Winds will shift to the south tomorrow. That, plus ridging in the jet stream, with lift temperatures this weekend. I’m putting low 70s for highs this weekend with overnight lows rising to the 40s (around 42 Friday night and 47 Saturday night).

A trough digs into the south early next week. Rain associated with this system enters the area Monday, and Tuesday in particular looks the rainiest. There’s enough instability that thunderstorms are possible, and models are showing an inch of rain possible. That’s actually a little less rainfall than what was being shown yesterday.

The moisture will exit our area Wednesday. Highs drop to the 50s.
