FBI arrests second Southeast jewelry robbery suspect

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (41NBC/WMGT) – The FBI arrested 35-year-old Lewis Jones III for his involvement in a string of jewelry store robberies across the Southeast.

Investigators arrested 24-year-old Abigail Kemp over the weekend in Smyrna. Jones was with Kemp at the time, but authorities needed to question him further, according to a news release from the FBI. The two are accused of robbing jewelry stores in Georgia, Florida and Tennesee.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said Kemp was seen at Reed’s Jewelry Store in the Shoppes at River Crossing on Riverside Drive on December 29. Lt. Randy Gonzalez explained the sheriff’s office had a detail watch the store the following day, but Kemp didn’t come back. Kemp didn’t rob Reed’s Jewelry.

Jones is in custody on bank robbery charges in a separate criminal complaint filed by the Dekalb County Police Department in Georgia.
