FVSU ban hoverboards from residence halls
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fort Valley State University is placing a ban on hoverboards in all residence halls. It also includes electronic skateboards, self-balancing boards and scooters.
The ban stems from the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission’s investigation regarding the safety of the devices. Consumers have reported that the batteries in the devices have caught fire while charging.
FVSU’s Director of Housing and Residential Life, Shaun Modena, says the ban will remain until safety measures are set in place for the devices. Once the safety measures are set by state and federal agencies the university may reconsider the ban.
The devices are allowed on other areas on the university’s campus.
