4 dead pitbulls found at Macon home

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Four dead pitbulls were found outside of a home on Barrett Avenue in Macon Sunday morning.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said five dogs were found outside. Four of them were dead and one was alive. There was another dog alive locked inside the home. Bibb deputies used a search warrant to get the dog out. Deputy Linda Howard said the dogs’ injuries were consistent with dog fighting. All of the dogs were pitbulls. Officials believe two dogs might have died a few days ago, while the other two died Sunday.

Deputy Howard said neighbors called to report a smell Sunday morning. Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare took all the animals and is investigating. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t been able to get in touch with the homeowner.
