Dead puppy, three malnourished pitbulls removed from a Macon home

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three malnourished dogs and a dead puppy were found behind a Macon home on Plymouth Drive Monday.

Macon-Bibb Animal Control says there were eight dogs at the residence, four of which did not belong to the homeowner.

The dead dog, which was not the homeowner’s, was malnourished and was believed to have been left out in the cold.  It wasn’t more than a few months old.

The owner of the house is currently not being charged with any crimes.

“If you are intentionally exercising custody of an animal, harboring it, feeding it, it is by law your animal,” explains Interim Director Sonja Adams.  “But because we have prior knowledge of a certain individuals animals on this property and we have a current case with him, we’re moving forward with only charging that person and not this homeowner.”

Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

Authorities are trying to find the owner, who is believed to be involved with a dog fighting ring.
