Two-time defending champion Westfield Hornets going for three-peat
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Westfield Hornets won the state championship for the second year in a row in 2015. Head coach Ronnie Jones’ team finished with a 13-1 record in order to get to that pinnacle. Now with a brand new season ahead, he’s hoping his football team has what it takes to make it three in a row.
The Hornets were a powerhouse on offense last year, scoring 45.4 points a game. While the offensive line will be a question mark, they’ll have QB Ryan Fitzpatrick returning, as well as RB Josh Jenkins.
Westfield was also very good on defense, only allowing 16.4 points a game for 2014. It may be a struggle to reach that mark again this season as Coach Jones will have to deal with the loss of his top two tacklers.
The Westfield Hornets kick-off their season August 21st, at Southland.
