Hartley Elementary teachers visit students at home
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Most Bibb County students won’t see their teachers until Monday, but Hartley Elementary teachers wanted to see their kids a little early.
They hopped on a school bus and headed to their students’ neighborhoods. They talked to parents and invited them to the school’s open house. The school counselor says this is a great way to help students get over their first day of school nerves.
“I think it makes them feel like we are truly a family. That we’re coming together for them and for their students. That we’re not a separate entity. That we’re working together to make sure that their students are getting the best education,” said Twanna White.
Hartley’s open house is this Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The first day of school in Bibb County is Monday.
