Affordable Health Care deadline extended to April 30
“Everybody needs health insurance and for a lot of people this is the first time that they have been able to get health insurance and get assistance in paying for it,” said the Insure GA Director, Melissa Camp.
The healthcare enrollment extension allows Insure GA to continue its call center. Operators will answer your questions about what you need to know to get health insurance coverage. The call center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Open Enrollment has been extended for a small group of people,” said the Director of Community Health Works Public Outreach, Katie Smoak. “If you have filed your 2014 taxes, incurred the penalty for not having health insurance during 2014, and claim that you did not know about the requirement to have health insurance under the new healthcare law until after open enrollment ended on February 15, 2015, you may be eligible to still get healthcare coverage.”
Smoak explained, “additionally, if you have experienced a “life changing event” such as getting married, having a baby, or losing your previous health insurance, you may be eligible for a special enrollment period.”
