Warner Robins ‘jar thief’ charged with identity theft

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins police have arrested the man accused of stealing a jar that was supposed to go toward a sick 5-year-old’s medical bills.

Officers arrested 29-year-old Desean Hendrix. He’s charged with theft by taking and giving a false date of birth and name. Both are misdemeanors. He is also charged with felony identity theft.

The bar’s owner along with police are accusing Hendrix of stealing a jar filled with money from the Jus’ One More Bar and Grill on Russell Parkway.

The money was supposed to go to Matty Hancock, a five-year-old battling a rare blood disorder.

Police originally had a warrant out for Daryl Thomas, a resident from Florida asking that he turn himself in. After further investigation, officers discovered that Hendrix had stolen Thomas’ identity.

According to the Houston County jail website, Hendrix bonded out of jail on Wednesday.
