Macon-Bibb leaders continue 5×5 neighborhood cleanup

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One Macon-Bibb County commissioner is looking to cleanup his district with the community’s help.

Commissioner Al Tillman is bringing the county’s 5×5 neighborhood improvement program to District 9. Tillman, along with countless volunteers, are picking up and clearing trash, branches, and debris from roadways.

Supporters say programs like 5×5 help bring the community together.

“Euphoric, very enthusiastic, excited, ready, on-fire to see that we’re having a community revitalization take place and that everybody is getting a chance to do something in our Bellevue-Hillcrest-Payne City community,” Pastor David Stephens with Greater Bellevue Baptist Church said.

There are several events throughout the month for 5×5 in the area:

A public forum — Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m at the Macon Mall near Belk.

Neighborhood Cleanup — Saturday, March 14 at 5×5 area from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Community Festival — Saturday, March 14 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Greater Bellevue Baptist Church.
