Restaurant Report Card: Mama Mia

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – They’re stirring up the sauce and putting it in the oven at Mama Mia at 6015 Watson Boulevard in Byron.

But first, here’s a restaurant that needs to step it up this week.

The Wing Hut at 3670 Eisenhower Parkway in Macon scored a 64.

An employee used hand sanitizer instead of soap to wash their hands, there weren’t any paper towels at the hand washing sink, and they had dish rags and utensils sitting in the hand washing sink.

Other scores this week can be found right here.

At Mama Mia, the food here is truly home made Italian.

Just what co-owner Rocco Corso and his brother wanted–a family restaurant with food straight from Italy.

“You gotta have a heart for this, and my family’s been cooking for years,” said Corso.

That makes for some good food.

“Everything’s done on the premises, it makes it more authentic than anything else when you can do it on the premises,” said Corso.

It’s an authentic 100 on the wall, too.

“Actually, that’s our number one priority, number two is make sure our food is great,” said Corso. “Cleanliness is very important to me. I don’t like a dirty restaurant. I live here, I’m here all day, in the morning to the evening, and I want it to be just right.”

It’s just right, and definitely good.

Mama Mia is making the grade this week!
