Senator Perdue: Obama’s policies won’t put people back to work
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Freshman Senator David Perdue says the president’s State of the Union address featured more of the same policies he has promised since he was elected in 2008 and has failed to keep.
Perdue says six years ago, the President Obama promised to cut the deficit in half, but adds it’s on track to more than double in his time as president. Perdue says the president promised to bring the country together, whereas he believes he’s been “one of the most divisive president’s of our time.” He adds the Obama administration promised to put people back to work, but the senator says there are fewer people working today in the workforce than in anytime since 1978.
“I don’t hear anything much new that these policies are going to put people back to work, which is really why I got into politics in the first place,” Perdue said.
Perdue says it’s important for the federal government to get control of its “outrageous spending.”
The freshman senator also commented on what he has accomplished his first few weeks in Washington D.C., including co-sponsoring the fair tax, term limit, and Keystone Pipeline bills.
