Mayor Mary Ann Whipple-Lue wants to appeal a decision made by a Wilkinson County judge who ruled in favor of City Council members who tried to get the her out of office.
Members of the City Council and a group calling themselves the Concerned Citizens of Gordon claims Mayor Mary Ann Whipple-Lue violated the state’s Open Meeting Act and other laws as a public official, and sought her removal.
Whipple-Lue filed motions against the lawsuit that were denied.
In July 2014, a judge granted a temporary restraining order filed by City Councilman Terry Eady and the Concerned Citizens of Gordon, and suspended Mayor Whipple-Lue.
Whipple-Lue was eventually allowed back into office with certain limitations of power.
Attorneys for the mayor says the court made several mistakes in trial.
The Supreme Court will hear the arguments on Tuesday.
