UPDATE: Blown Tire Causes Accident on I-75 Kills Two

Two people are confirmed dead after an accident Tuesday night in Monroe County.

The one vehicle accident happened around 9pm at mile marker 197. Investigators say a 15 passenger van carrying 12 people blew a tire and crashed. Traffic on I-75 South was blocked until midnight.

A witness reported seeing a life flight helicopter on the scene as well.  The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reports two people were taken by helicopter to the hospital because of their injuries.

The bodies of the men killed in the accident were taken to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy.

At least one passenger was ejected, and it is unknown whether seatbelts were in use. The men were traveling from the Atlanta area to work at the Perdue chicken processing plant in Perry. The driver and passengers are:

 10. Ambe R. Alley

 11. Ugen K. Magar

 12. Lok B. Alley

 13. Devi C. Niroula

 14. Birkha Magar

 15. Bala Katura
