Middle Georgia organizations give food those in need

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Some Middle Georgia organizations are making sure bellies are full this Thanksgiving holiday.

The First Methodist Food Pantry in Warner Robins served more than 100 families on Tuesday. The bags people received were filled with enough food to serve a family of 5.

In Macon, more than 45 volunteers with the Mentor Project gave groceries to senior citizens.

“It feels good to give back and just sit down and talk with the senior citizens about things they’re thankful for. Sometimes everybody just needs somebody to sit down and talk to,” explained Natalie West, a volunteer with the mentor project.

Overtime Bar and Grill took care of the homeless. They offered health screenings, food, and free hair cuts.

The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation partnered with Sam’s Club in Macon to purchase and hand out turkeys to those less fortunate.

Members of these organizations feel it’s their duty to give back to the community.
