Thousands of voters around middle Georgia fill polling precincts

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Voters filled polling locations throughout middle Georgia on Tuesday.  Residents who say this election is important and they want their voices to be heard.

“It’s a right and if we expect to get any better we have to vote to make it better,” Lesley Brown Jr., a voter, said.
That’s the motto dozens of voters had in precincts around middle Georgia on Tuesday.
Polling locations in Forsyth, Macon, and Warner Robins were filled with those headed to cast their ballot.
“It’s my job, it’s one of the rights we were given,” Barney Poole, a voter, said.
Some residents took advantage of voting early — numbers show the same amount of people voted this time like in 2010.
Although it was some people’s first time….
“Before I would go with my mom. She would take me every year and show me how to do and press the buttons for me and stuff like that so it was it was pretty cool being able to do it all on my own,” Brittany Haynes, a voter, said.
Many people say they don’t like what’s been going in the state and IN D.C. and it’s time for a change.
“We should take advantage of the opportunity to express our beliefs,” Mary-Aiken Wright, a voter, said.

“It’s time for a good change and I think that the people that we vote for are going to be part of that change,” Brown Jr. said.
For others the day is about expressing themselves.
“Everyone is not allowed to have that in the world. I mean there are places where women, in general, are still fighting to have their voice heard,” Haynes said.
At the end of the day, voters say they want their opinions and voices heard, and a difference made in their communities.
“It’s time to change. Let’s change the faces and lets convince the politicians to the change it to the people’s state again,” Brown said.
