Walk on the Wild Side to raise money for Warner Robins Animal Control

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Babara Paul, “A Walk on the Wild Side” event coordinator, could not  quite keep up with number of people that strolled through the 2nd annual fundraiser.

        Organizers want to raise more than $1,500 for the Warner Robins animal control.

        “The money will be used to help them offset, there, expenses for micro-chipping, and spay and neutering and whatever needs they have,” says Fitzgerald.

        Vendors sold dog treats, animal arts and crafts. There was a silent auction, and animal adoptions along with a Warner Robins Police K-9 demonstration.

        Aubrey Williams and her family watched as “Ego” the police canine sniffed for drugs. “The canine unit at the police department has always interested me,” says Williams.

        Williams allowed her 10month old daughter lela to pet the police canine. “I’ve always been comfortable with dogs and as long as she’s in my arms. I feel she’ll be safe as well.”

        Warner Robins Police Sgt. Wayne Fisher says his partner since 2010, eight-year-old Ego is trained to detec narcotics and locate missing people.

        One of the highlights of the event, was the dog costume contest. There was an owner and dog in matching bee costumes, competeing against a superhero.

“We came with our dog dressed up as Bat-Woman to be in the costume contest,” says Bobby Honrath. One year old harley did walk away with a trophy. his owner wrapped up the event as… “Just good times with dogs, man’s best friend,” says
