Career Fair and Fall Festival for students in downtown Macon
Children helped to create games they played during the festival at the Wells Fargo Bank building.
They also listened as guest speakers, such as Jennifer Look, of the Historic Riverside Cemetery Preservation Society, gave them a history lesson about Macon.
The Executive Director of the Mentor’s Project for Bibb County, June O’Neal says the purpose of the events, were to help keep students learning during their fall break from school.
“It’s all about maximizing the opportunity to learn and to have fun at the same time,” says O’Neal. “That way we can combine fun with education and give the children something positive to do while school is out.”
The students participating in the Career Fair and Fall Festival ranged from seventh graders to high school seniors.
The Career Fair and Fall festival was hosted by Gear Up, other sponsors included the Mentors Project, Stratford Academy’s Fifth Grade Council, New Haven Baptist Church, and Middle Georgia’s Food Bank.
